Homeowner Insurance

Homeowner insurance is a topic that majority of people don’t fully understand. We all know we need it, and at some point we’ll be more than happy that we have it, but you aren’t alone in your thoughts of asking yourself, what exactly am I paying for? While it was most likely explained when it came time to issuing your policy, over time it’s commonly forgotten. Safeco took the time to break down a HO policy and did their best to explain the basic structure in a way most can hopefully understand. If you are someone who might need a quick refresher or, are just simply interested in learning more, click the link below!

Mississippi Valley Fair

As we progress through the summer months here in the Quad Cities, it brings us closer to the ever so popular Mississippi Valley Fair. Whether you are a ride enthusiast, fair food addict or music lover, the fair offers something for everyone. You can indulge in everything tasty that the vendors have to offer while you give your ears a soothing melody to enjoy. Music lovers have a large range of artists to choose from when it comes to live music. The Valley Fair offers big name concerts, referred to as the Grandstand Entertainment, every night starting at 8 pm, with genres varying from country to rock. Along with the Grandstand artists they have the Nightly Band Fair, which features popular local bands like The Binjers which will play at the Pavilion on August 3rd. The Nightly Band Fair offers fair goers 3 different locations to choose from to see their favorite local bands such as; The Farmer’s Tent, Pavilion, and the Shed. To check out all the musicians’ locations and times visit the Valley Fair website. While the type of insurance that vendors and musicians are required to hold is unknown, a good assumption would  be Commercial General Liability and even Inland Marine, to better protect their instruments and equipment. If you haven’t bought your Fun Card ticket yet, there is still time, support the locals and your community and join in on the fun. This year’s fair is sure to be a hit!

The Bix and Quick Bix both start at 8:00 am on Saturday, July 28th, while the Jr. Bix starts at 6:00pm on Friday, July 27th for our littlest of runners. If you aren’t the running type, fear not, with the Bix comes the Street Fest. The Street Fest is enjoyed by Bix runners and those who are looking for an excuse to get out, enjoy their Saturday and support their community! The Street Fest offers festival food, beverages, live music and more. According to the Bix 7 website, food vendors will need to supply “A certificate of insurance with minimum coverage of $1,000,000.00 liability insurance, naming the Downtown Davenport Partnership – Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce and the City of Davenport as additional insured.” To find out more about the insurance requirements visit their website and do a little digging for yourself.

Homeowner vs. Renter’s Insurance

Looking to move into the Quad Cities? Whether you are moving into an apartment or a house it’s important to take the steps to make sure you’re properly insured. Homeowner and renter policies are similar in that they are meant to protect you against a covered peril, but what most people don’t know is the difference of what they are insuring and what is covered. A homeowner’s policy is meant to insure you, your dwelling, (the house structure) and the contents in it. A renter’s policy is designed to cover only you and your personal belongings inside your apartment. Whether it’s a house, condominium, or an apartment, inquire about your options to make sure you are covered.

Downtown Rock Island Events

Downtown Rock Island has released their 2018 event schedule this summer and it’s sure to be a hit! Whether you prefer live music, a variety of food vendors, home-brewing of more than 50 beers or outdoor games, Rock Island has covered their bases with a little bit for everyone. The first event kicked off on the 26th of May with a Plaza Picnic. The event was full of music, food, and fun; basically, one giant community picnic party! To plan your next family or friend outing you can visit Downtown Rock Island’s website to view their event calendar. While they may have covered their bases by hosting fun events, I wouldn’t be covering ours without discussing the insurance behind the events. Some lines of insurance that the city and vendors could and should be carrying would vary from liquor liability, commercial general liability, and inland marine. With so many different events that Rock Island hosts the type of insurance and coverage that is needed is endless. While the specific coverage that the city is requiring is unknown, chances are Downtown Rock Island is making sure all their events are covered!

Davenport Farmer’s Market

It’s official, Summer is approaching here in Davenport Iowa and nothing says Summer quite like the Davenport Freight House Farmers’ Market! While they celebrated their first 2018 Summer opening this past weekend I found myself asking some interesting questions, do the vendors that participate have insurance? What happens if someone were to get hurt? Well, you can get some of those answers by just doing a little digging. The Freight House Farmers’ Market’s website states that vendors applying to participate need proof of insurance. What type of insurance you ask? Well to ease your curious mind, chances are the vendors might be carrying commercial general liability insurance but don’t let your wondering minds distract you from all that the event has to offer!

The Farmers’ Market has a wide variety of vendors that participate in the summer seasons including farmers, craftsmen, bakers, and creators. If you are looking for fresh produce, inventive jewelry, unique furniture, and delicious food then the Freight House Farmers’ Market is the place for you! Go support your community and check them out, open Saturdays from 8am-1pm, Sundays from 10am-2pm and Wednesdays from 8am-1pm.

The Freight House Farmers' Market has officially opened up their outdoor market. We got a live look at the kick-off celebration this morning during the show! pic.twitter.com/P3NfDeOdnl
