Purchasing commercial Insurance, also known as business or industrial insurance, can be a highly confusing undertaking. Considering the limitless options and countless coverage types, it is imperative that the insured asks questions and offers full disclosure to the agent about the business. In order to be insured “correctly,” the agent must fully understand the operations of the business, property owned or leased, employee details, executive details and much more. Failing to provide such information can result in severe complications and denials in the case of a claim being filed.
The complexity of commercial insurance makes it a difficult task to provide a detailed guide as to what you need to properly insure yourself and your business. Rather than go into details over each coverage type and consideration, please find a brief description of coverage to consider when purchasing commercial insurance. This should not be considered a comprehensive guide, but rather a starting point in making a determination to properly insure your business.
It is highly recommended that you initially spend some significant time with your agent to make the proper determinations that you are appropriately covered.
